Sri Yudhishthira Maharaj said, "Goodness Vasudeva, please portray to me the Ekadashi of the dull fortnight (Krishna paksha) of the month of Vaishakha (April-May)."
Ruler Sri Krishna answered, "In this world and the following, the most promising and generous Ekadashi is Varuthini Ekadashi. An individual who watches a complete quick on this sacrosanct day has his wrongdoings totally uprooted and acquires constant joy.
Upon any individual who watches it, this Ekadashi offers material pleasure in this life and liberation after the demise of this present body. It wrecks the wrongdoings of all and spares individuals from the torments of rehashed resurrection. Fasting on Varuthini Ekadashi makes even a lamentable lady lucky.
The legitimacy that one accomplishes by giving gold throughout a sun based shroud at Kurukshetra is picked up by one who watches this Ekadashi with adoration and dedication, and unquestionably achieves his objectives in this life and the following.
Superior to giving stallions in philanthropy is giving elephants, and superior to giving elephants is giving area. Yet better still is the giving of sesame seeds, and superior to that is giving of gold. Still superior to giving gold is giving nourishment grains - for all the progenitors, demigods (devas), and people get fulfilled by consuming grains. In this way there is no preferable endowment of philanthropy over this previously, present and future.
